The timeline is currently viewable on an external website but in the future, we plan to embed the viewer in the SCSC’s own website so we have a more consistent look-and-feel.

We have over 150 entries at the moment, but we think there are still many more events that need to be captured!

We are therefore looking for your continued support in this endeavour, so we would very much like you to continue to add items to the timeline.

To make this easier, we now have an online method for adding events. This is available to registered users of the website and is accessible through the same Safety Timeline menu option as shown.

Once you are logged on to the website you will also see the following table. This allows you to search the entries we have already and to add new ones. It is of course worthwhile checking that an entry has not already been captured, so you can use the Name and Description fields to search for events. You can also filter by event types by checking/unchecking the types of events you are interested in.

Click on the +New button to add a new entry. You will be presented with the following screen:

Add as much detail as you can and then press SAVE

Try and be as specific with the dates as you can but a month and year or just a year will work fine too.

In External Links it would be useful if it led to a full description of the event (eg. a Wikipedia entry) and also if there is a particular image you’d suggest for the main timeline display, then a web link to it would be helpful.

You can change your entry at any time from the main table listing screen. Click the checkbox on the side of your entry and then press Edit Any of the fields you previously provided can then be amended.

The timeline is active now so please feel free to add new content! We will curate your submissions to check for duplicates etc. and then these will be added to the main 2D/3D timeline views. We very much look forward to seeing your contributions!
