Code of Conduct for Speakers, Delegates and Contributors
The SCSC is a community offering networking and support, promoting inclusion within the engineering community. It encourages freedom of speech and debate, whilst ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
The SCSC asks speakers, delegates and contributors to act in accordance with this Code of Conduct.
- Approach everyone with kindness, respect and an open mind; assume positive intent
- Be curious and ready to learn; reach out for diverse ideas and opinions
- Use appropriate language and behaviours
- be aware of jargon
- include different sectors and industries
- explain terms
- be mindful of the audience and recordings (especially for humour)
- avoid anything potentially offensive or intimidating like profanities
- comply with relevant laws (eg. equality act, in particular anything impacting protected characteristics)
- avoid anything libellous or defamatory.
The SCSC reserves the right to maintain a supportive environment. The SCSC may therefore:
- pause a presentation, question or discussion at any time
- intervene in forum discussions, including the removal of comments.
