The latest version of IEC 61508 has now been published (May 2010), and the updated guidance document DO-178C is soon to be released. Previous SSEI work has examined the individual changes to these documents to identify particular areas of concern for the production of safety arguments. This report develops those ideas further to provide an initial assessment of the impact on the suitability of evidence from the changes to the standards. The aim of the work is to support guidance that will reduce costs associated with late discovery of unsuitable evidence.
